In 2004 while most commercial record labels were putting out cookie cutter artist on their multi-conglomerate assembly lines; Debefore Records sprang from the ashes as an independent record label seeking to make a difference in the world through music. For most companies the bottom line is what counts. Yet, for Debefore Records, music is the bottom line. For years Debefore Records has aimed to use the power of music and words as a juggernaut to combat injustice. In 2004 Debefore Records signed their first artists "The ReadNex Poetry Squad". Since then, Debefore Records has gone on to work with several artists fighting for justice, both independent and commercial, along with national and local organizations throughout the world. In an effort to meet the rising demands of many disenfranchised youth, Debefore Records prides itself on its strong relationship with several schools throughout the country.
At Debefore Records the power of music is recognized and definitely utilized by all artists associated with the label. No rock will be unturned, all will be reached and are welcomed to feast on music that is not only appetizing for your ears but for your mind, body and soul. For years commercial radio waves are over saturated with toxic messages from modern day Icons that leave consumers confused and stripped of the power to choose what materials they would like to digest. Debefore Records strives to empower by providing diversity and a more musically balanced diet. The best way to understand Debefore Records is to simply listen to the music because Music will Move A Nation!

As you'll notice from looking at the Tour Schedule we've extended the Day Before Sound Tour! La Vida Garden (a project of the Youth-led Urban Farmer's League) opens on July 24th at 4:00PM. Come support the Youth & the beautiful work they've done to a once empty lot in Newburgh, NY. Check out the flier to the right and the info below.
JULY 29 we'll be having a "Soft" Premiere for the "Be Dif'Rent" Video. This will be history in the making as it's the first ever ReadNex Poetry Squad video. Trust me when I write this video is FIRE! Noisemaker Media has completed work on it and we plan on having a get together for all the folks involved at Ms.D's monthly Open Mic at the Wherehouse in Newburgh, NY. We'll also be performing live that night! Be sure to come out to support local talent, enjoy the sounds and be one of the first to see the video.
